Nancy’s Recipe Box

August 22nd, 2008. Filed under: Nancy's Recipe Box.

I moved a year ago this month and just today found my cookbooks and my special recipe box.  That box is chock full of memories as well as recipes.  Some of them are from family members, nurses, one of my mother’s friends, friends from Bible college, recipes from restaurants and minor celebrities, recipes from newspapers, magazines and food labels and some from a few very special friends.  This box is 3″ x 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and yet all these memories and recipes snuggle up and hug each other, no matter how many more I might try to add.  Too bad we humans don’t share our space as amicably as my little cards and bits of paper do.

The first recipe I want to share is for Spiced Tea.  This is one of those little cards put out by grocery stores.  This card is from Publix and is a recipe from the T-Factor Diet  by Martin Katahn, Ph. D.

SPICED TEA

  • 4 cups of brewed black tea (4 tea bags)
  • 9 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 cup of unsweetened orange juice
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cloves
  • 1 to 2 teaspooons of lemon juice, or 4 slices of fresh lemon
  1. When brewing the tea, place the cinnamon sticks in the same pan or teapot.  When the tea is ready, discard the cinnamon sticks.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients to the pot and serve, or chill first in a pitcher and serve over ice cubes if you want iced tea

Makes 4 servings.
