Obama Blasted
May 8th, 2009. Filed under: Finance & Fitness Fridays.Obama’s first babystep towards trimming the budget upset his democrats. His proposal to cut $17 billion from 121 government programs is such a tiny bit compared to the trillions he’s adding to the budget, but it cuts pork and entitlement programs, as well as 14 defense programs. Of course, we don’t really need these defense programs if we go in the direction Obama wants to take us.
Some of these cuts aren’t really cuts. It’s just shifting the money to different projects. One of these is taking the student loan program away from private lenders and giving it to the government. Also being cut is the Denali Commission, an independent federal agency that helped pay for infrastructure projects in remote parts of the state. A little punishment for Alaska?
