Bailout for the Big 3

December 19th, 2008. Filed under: Finance & Fitness Fridays.

According to a breaking news alert from the New York Times, we, the taxpayers, once again are giving away our hard earned wages to another group of irresponsible people.  Rather than let the automakers pay the price for their greediness, we are giving them $17.4 billion.  This move is actually a dump job by Bush.  The conditions set are to be reviewed March 30, 2009 to see if the companies are in compliance.  Then Obama gets to deal with it.

Come on, boys and girls.  Do you really think the negotiations between the automakers and union can get results in this time frame?  Unions are notorious for balking at any reduction of benefits, even if it’s for their long term good.  Now they not only need to reduce benefits, but also wages.  Those wage reductions need to start at the top and work their way down through the ranks.  It surely beats not having any wages.  It’s time for the greed in this country to come to an end.  Look where it’s gotten us thus far!

If any of you still have friends and relatives who went through the Great Depression, I suggest you sit down with them and ask how it was back then.  Ask them for suggestions on how to manage through hard times.  And then, when you’ve listened carefully, start implementing this way of life.  Quit spending all the money you have and then going into debt after the money is spent.  People, you do not need all the stuff you are blowing the dollars on.  In this country, there is a vast difference between wants and needs.

Wake up and smell the coffee while you can still afford to brew a cup.
