CVS Done Me Wrong!

December 12th, 2008. Filed under: Finance & Fitness Fridays.

Actually, they are making it difficult for a lot of us.  CVS is near my home and I have filled my prescriptions there for nearly three years now.  They had in me a loyal customer, because they matched Wal-Mart’s price of $10 for a three month refill.  That is, until this week.  They will fill it for $9.95 for a three month supply, but I have to pay a yearly fee first.  The yearly fee is only $10, but it’s the principle of the thing.  I’ll now be getting my prescriptions filled at Wal-Mart.  It’s less than a mile from my home.  Since I drive a Honda Insight and am getting nearly 50 mpg, it’s still a frugal alternative.

I’ve been paying more for quite a few items, because I have several groceries closer.  It’s been a matter of convienence.  Now that I will be going to Wal-Mart more frequently, I will be purchasing those items cheaper.  The challenge – don’t browse!  The secret for me is to write out a list and stick to it.  Also, eat before going shopping.  Making those two preparations, make it much easier for me to get in and out without buying anything I don’t need.  Oh yes, it doesn’t take care of the wants, but I’ve found that I want to pay off debt more than I want stuff.  I’m still trying to declutter and get rid of stuff.  I think I’m going to start listing things on Craig’s list.  I’ll set aside that money for one purchase that will help with my fitness and not blow my finances.  Can you guess what is selling for about $250 and will increase a person’s level of fitness while having fun?
