Mend and Make Do Monday

August 29th, 2011. Filed under: Monday's Musings.

So far I’ve not managed to do this.  Last week I felt like crap really bad and haven’t done much of anything.  I don’t know if I’ll get anything mended today, but I have made progress.  I’ve pulled a few things to start mending.

I need to fix a zipper and put new hems in a pair of Consumer Man’s pants and mend the neck of a night gown.  I also am sitting here giving the evil eye to a comforter which tried to escape when I laundered it.  I have about a six inch opening along one side to seam back up.

I’ve also been looking at a skirt I wore sometime last week.  It’s very pretty, and I really like it.  What I don’t like is the ruffle around the bottom.  It’s very full, and looked so nice when I bought that skirt.  Well…I ironed the thing once.  Now I just wear it without ironing it. You know what it looks like.  If I told you, I’d just have to strike it out and try to find another description.

This skirt is also a bit longer than I would like.  I think if I just take all that ruffle off and then turn up about a one inch hem, it should be a better length.

So, even if I haven’t actually done any sewing yet.  It feels as if I’ve made a little progress.  Are any of you all doing the Mend and Make Do Monday?  Do you have trouble with life getting in the way of your sewing?
