It Was a Very Good Year

January 1st, 2011. Filed under: This & That.

Did you reach your goals for 2010?  I have to admit to mixed results.  My biggie?  I’m debt free and have a five month emergency fund.  Financial goal met. What now?

I want to skip out of the rat race completely.  I’m on my way, but not nearly as quickly as I would like.  I’m now working prn shifts – as needed shifts.  I’m down to a max of one or two shifts a month.  Consumer Man had an increase in income and dare I admit that I took an early retirement?  Quit snickering!  I am NOT over the hill yet.

There’s a kink in that retirement thing.  A former employer chose not to withhold FICA/social security taxes so I’m only receiving about half of what I should.  I’ve done the reporting it in writing, but the IRS seems to think the government doesn’t need money badly enough to do anything about it.

Next on this year’s agenda is a personal and up close visit to find out just what the hold up is all about.  I’m sure they must just be swamped with paperwork, especially now that the tax people are also the Obamacare people.  Maybe I can do something to help them out a little.

Another step to reaching that financial goal is to quit farting around and figure out another stream of income that can be handled from home.  If you all have any suggestions, please share them.  I think now may be the time to stick my toe in the water and monetize my site a little.  I certainly don’t want a bunch of ads all over the place, because this is a place where we come to kick back and feel the gentle breezes.

I don’t have a clue as to what my fitness goal was, but I’m pretty certain it wasn’t to keep losing the same five pounds over and over again.  My 2011 fitness goal is twofold.  First is to lose 25 pounds by the end of the year.  That is neither an unreasonable nor an unattainable goal.  The second part is to keep my A1c between 6.0 and 6.2.  I will expand on that in Friday’s post.

I will address my accomplishments and goals for my needlework in Saturday’s post.

I will leave you with Frank.
