Green Bags

April 25th, 2009. Filed under: Sewing on Saturday.

Green bags, red bags, blue bags and purple bags.  They’re all green when they’re reusable.  Today we go on another venture searching out bags to stitch, knit and crochet.

You can even have a bag to hold your bags if you’re still collecting those plastic bags.

Indigo Blue has a nice chunky knitted bag.  Knit on the net also has a nice market bag.  Berroco has a knit woolly market bag inspired by Mexican textiles.

Little House in the Suburbs has a cute bag crocheted out of fun fur.  My Recycled Bagshas one crochet out of plarn.  You can also find The Green Shopping Bag at this site.  This site has lots of good crochet bag patterns.  Another one is the recycled bread bag tote.

If you’re rather sit at your sewing machine or serger, there are bags for you, too.  Craft Stylish has a tutorial on how to sew your own produce bags.  You can go here to see how to sew a fabric shopping bag.  And for the ultimate, go to tipnut for 35 free bag patterns you can stitch up.

That should keep us busy for awhile.  Happy bag making.  You do realize what a great gift these would make, don’t you.  Start now and you can get some Christmas gifts done up early.,

I can’t crochet, or knit. I don’t like to sew.
    shocking isn’t it?
I bought some nice (really nice) canvas grocery bags
at Aldi. They are huge, well made and not to expensive.
Now I just need to remember to take them in the stores with me.

That’s still a problem for me sometimes. I usually remember to take my bags, but it’s still a developing habit. Maybe that’s because I detest shopping, so don’t do it until forced to because I need coffee, cream or produce. ;p
