Humor and Talent in the Medical Profession

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Whenever I have surgery I want my surgical team to be skilled and dedicated to do the very best job they possibly can.  I’ve never considered anything else, but what I’ve discovered about the other talents lurking in the OR have me doubled over.  In pain, you ask.  No.  In hysterics, you ask.  No.  Well, […]

Where Is the Dream?

Monday, January 17th, 2011

It’s disappearing along with the family values, the marriage and the fathers.  It’s disappearing as the unborn children are murdered for the sake of convenience.  It’s disappearing along with the work ethic and life centered around the church and our Creator. Martin’s dream is being replaced by feelings of entitlement and the victim mentality. ” Poor […]

Keep Me Away from You Tube!

Monday, December 27th, 2010

If you don’t, I’ll never get anything done.  I don’t remember why I went there this afternoon.  I’ve been all over the place.  I can’t remember where I started, but I traveled through some military tattoos, all kinds of Amazing Grace from Lin Yu Chun to Il Divo, Susan Boyle, Julie London, Ella, and now […]

Nordstrom Shoppers Flashed

Monday, December 20th, 2010

Sure enough.  A whole bunch of them were flashed by one of the mob flashes of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”. In an event organized by the Seattle Symphony and Nordstrom, hundreds of singers joined in a flash mob performance of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” at the downtown Seattle Nordstrom on Saturday, December 11, 2010.

Tasty Thanksgiving Temptations

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Date nut pudding with sauce was a Midwestern tradition where I grew up.  I have several versions in my recipe box, and have already shared one with you.  This one was one I inherited from Mable Legg’s recipe box.  The second recipe is a Southern tradition – sweet potato pie.  I can’t tell you […]

National Grilling Day

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Happy National Grilling Day, aka Labor Day.  This day no longer commemorates anything except the obsession of a large majority of Americans gathering together around the family grill.  Enjoy your day and have a burger for me.  There’s no grill on the island, but I think I’ll have to import one next spring.  I do […]

Is Big Brother a Plant?

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

There’s a very interesting video which seems to be going viral.  It’s quite disconcerting.  Is this what Obama is hiding?  See what you think.

Are You Glowing Yet?

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I don’t know about where you live, but it’s hot and muggy down here.  I’m sweating perspiring glowing up a storm here.  Women glow or glisten.  We aren’t supposed to sweat.  That offends the Southern woman’s sensibility.  I don’t care.  If I go outside for 15 minutes, I come in needing a shower and change of […]

focus

Monday, June 7th, 2010

focus: walking, disconnection & focus The simple act of walking can be a tremendous boost to your focus, productivity, clarity of mind, not to mention your health and waistline. Recently a fellow blogger wrote to me talking about how many pounds she lost on vacation because she walked all day long — something many of […]
