IN FLANDERS FIELDS

poppiesV

By Lt. Col. John McCrae, Army of Canada, WWI

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be it yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Field.

Prayer For Our Country After The Election

November 9th, 2016

wethepeople

Baruch Ata Adonai Eloheniu
Melech Ha Olam
(Blessed are you O Lord our God, King of the universe):

Abba, we ask for Your peace, Your healing, and Your unity, for the United States of America, that comes only from the Prince of Peace, Sar Shalom, Yeshua the Messiah. Use us as an instrument of Your peace and light. May we be part of the solution rather than the problem as we talk with others who might be extremely disappointed because of the election results. Grant us wisdom, so that we would not tear down and discourage people, but rather by lifting up the name of Yeshua, we would draw them to His light.

2 Timothy 2:23-24 – But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they produce quarrels. The Lord?s slave must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, tolerant.

Abba, we repent and pray for Your Spirit to bring revival to our land. May You once again be the center of everything we do. We pray for hearts that seek after You and lift up Your name and Your Word as our foundation and standard. May You be Glorified!

2 Chronicles 7:14 – When My people, over whom My Name is called, humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Prayer For Elections

November 7th, 2016

Vote

Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, redeemed by His blood, committed to serve and follow Him. We come to You as Your believing people; Your representatives in this earth, the agents of Your government in the earth. We lift up to You this nation of ours, the United States of America. We thank You for the many centuries of special grace and mercy that You have granted to this nation. We thank You for the godly seeds that have been sown over the centuries by men of faith who have followed in Your footsteps – labored, sacrificed, prayed, and given for Your kingdom.

Lord, we desire that these godly seeds shall develop into a harvest that shall be reaped for Your purposes. We ask You to extend Your grace and mercy to this nation. We ask You to send a mighty visitation of the Holy Spirit that will overthrow the strongholds of Satan and uplift and glorify the name of Messiah Yeshua. We ask You for a mighty floodtide of spiritual revival that will sweep across this nation, casting down everything that opposes itself against the knowledge of God.

And we commit to You now specifically the forthcoming elections and all of the political processes involved. We take our stand in Yeshua’s name against every satanic principality and power that would seek to exercise control in these elections. We break their power; we release the elective and the governmental processes from their control, and we put them in Your hands. We pray that You will guide and overrule. That You will raise up the men and women of Your choice; put down those who will oppose and stand against Your purposes, and bring Your purposes to fulfillment in this nation.

Lord, we do believe that You have a special destiny for the United States, and we pray that nothing that Satan will do will be able to hinder that destiny, We also pray, Lord, for the relationship of the United States to Israel. That You will keep Your hand upon it and that You will also guide and overrule, to the benefit of Israel. That this nation will not turn against Israel or take its stand among the enemies of Israel. That You will graciously use this nation continually to support and uphold Your people, Israel, and their state.

Lord, we ask all these things, believing them to be Your will and believing them to be for Your glory, in the precious all-prevailing name of Yeshua our Messiah, Your Son, our Savior. Amen.

Light or Darkness

November 5th, 2016

moon-and-cross

The one who says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in the darkness.

The one who loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.

But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He doesn’t know where he is going, because the darkness has made his eyes blind.

Obedience

Now we know that we have come to know Him by this – if we keep His commandments.

The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

But whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God is truly made perfect. We know that we are in Him by this –

whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked.

Our Atonement

My children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Intercessor with the Father – the righteous Messiah Yeshua.

He is the atonement for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for the whole world.

Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire

If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Light Dispels Darkness

Now this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you – that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.

If we say we have fellowship with Him and keep walking in the darkness, we are lying and do not practice the truth.

But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of His Son Yesuha purifies us from all sin.

A Bird, A Girl, And A Rescue

By J.A. Myhre

Eleven-year-old Kiisa had no idea why her parents would send her away to boarding school. She wondered why they couldn’t all stay together in their beautiful African valley home. But no matter what she said they were firm: she must go, and she must go to this school.

As she said a tearful goodbye to her father, he whispered, “For such a time as this. . . . Remember that phrase, and try to open your trunk soon. You’ll find something unexpected inside.” When Kiisa opened the trunk, she was astonished to find a small heap of black and white feathers that quickly unfolded into a little bird, a wagtail to be exact. Her surprise only deepened when the bird started to speak, ”My name is Njili. I am one of the Messengers, though a small one. I have been sent to assist you with the Rescue.” Kiisa had no idea what she meant, but she would soon find out.

Join Kiisa on the adventure of a lifetime—a dangerous rescue mission that includes rebels, stolen girls, illegal logging, a hungry cobra, and more messengers who help in unexpected ways. Kiisa sets out to rescue others, but finds herself rescued from fear and bitterness as she learns that bravery is nothing more (or less) than being in the right place at the right time and taking action despite her fears.

This page-turning story, the second in The Rwendigo Tales (A Chameleon, a Boy, and a Quest is the first book), is an adventure that children, young adults, and even full-grown adults will not be able to put down. A Bird, a Girl, and a Rescue creatively and convincingly explores universal themes like family, forgiveness, bullying, and courage by blending magical realism and compelling storytelling. Written by a long-time medical missionary to Africa and featuring realistic pen and ink illustrations, it draws first-world readers into another (equally real) world—where young girls are captured by rebel soldiers, terrorism is a way of life, and environmental resources are exploited without a second thought. As Myhre’s characters deal with these real-life issues in the news, readers of all ages will gain a deeper interest in global human concerns.

ISLAND BREEZES

Kiisa’s only consolation to having to enroll in boarding school is her bird, Njili. The older girls are certainly not helpful with the new girls. They bully them instead.

Masasi was the leader of the bullies. She also was not one of the brightest bulbs in the pack. Because of her friendship with the wrong person, she was kidnapped and the girls dormitory was set on fire.

It seemed as though no one cared enough about her to rescue her. Only one girl dared to try.

I’ve certainly enjoyed Ms Myhre’s books. This is a good stand alone read, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy A Chameleon, a Boy, and a Quest, the first book in The Rwendigo Tales series. And you, as well as I, will look forward to the next one.

Go here to read a sample of the book.
