It All Started with an Ad in a Mail Order Bride Catalogue . . .

Melvin Hitchcock of the Hitching Post Mail Order Bride Catalog isn’t dishonest—not exactly. If he tweaks his clients’ applications a bit, it’s because he’s looking out for their best interests.

This charming bouquet of novellas introduces four Hitching Post prospects in the year 1870, each one eager for second chances . . . and hungry for happiness. Year in, year out, they’ll learn that love often comes in unexpected packages.

And Then Came Spring by Margaret Brownley
Mary-Jo has been unlucky all her life. But who would guess she’d travel halfway across the country to meet her match . . . only to find him dead!

An Ever-After Summer by Debra Clopton
Ellie had no idea she’s not what Matthew ordered. And what’s wrong with being a “Bible thumper” anyway? She’s determined to show him she’s tougher than she looks—and just the girl he needs.

Autumn’s Angel by Robin Lee Hatcher
Luvena would be perfect for Clay if she didn’t come with kids. But kids are a deal breaker, especially in a rough-and-trouble mining town. The trouble is, there’s no money to send them back. . .

Winter Wedding Bells by Mary Connealy
David’s convinced he’s not long for the world. He needs someone to mother his boys when he’s gone—nothing more. Can plucky Irish Megan convince him to work at living instead of dying?

ISLAND BREEZES

A catalogue bride for each season. First is Mary Jo, expecting to be a spring time bride. Some people have all the luck, but not Mary Jo. Dan was the second fiancé to up an die on her. When she arrived in town, the male who stole her heart was Dan’s son.

Then there’s a summertime love, or not. Once again the owner of the mail order bride catalogue tampered with the ad and letters. Ellie came looking for a husband and family to love while Matthew wanted someone just a notch above a hired hand to look after his two-year-old baby. Can that really turn into love?

Then along comes autumn and more havoc wreaked by Mr. Hitchcock’s alteration of letters.

Clay absolutely does not want a woman with children. Then along come Luvena with two nieces and a nephew in tow. Neither Clay nor Luvena have the funds to pay her way their way back to Boston. They’re going to have fun trying to figure out this mess. Since Mr. Hitchcock got them into this mess, he can remedy the situation with another advertisement.

Then comes the winter wedding and Mr Hitchcock once again decided to play God. He withheld the entire second page of David’s letter.

It was only after their marriage that Megan found that David was dying. She should have known a wealthy man like that wouldn’t marry a poor, uneducated Irish girl like her if he had another choice.

Megan couldn’t help falling in love with her dying husband and his two small sons.

I thoroughly enjoyed these novellas from authors I’ve grown to appreciate more each time I read something they’ve written. This book just makes me want to hurry up and read more books by these ladies.
