Are You a Loser?

December 2nd, 2012. Filed under: Sunday Scriptures.

Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain: but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also.  Whoever serves me, the Father will honor.”

John 12:23-26

    I don’t really understand this.
love life and you will lose it
or hate life and keep it

I love life and frequently lose it trying to
get Robbie (DS11) out to the bus in the mornings :))
but that probably isn’t what is meant here

I think that it means that if we love our physical life here more than Jesus, we will lose eternal life. If Jesus is more important than our physical life, we gain eternal life. I think the love/hate in this Scripture is heavy on emphasis for the comparison rather than actually mean hating our existance here. Does that make sense?

    yes! and thank you.

I don’t think I would make it though my physical life outside of the padded cell if I didn’t have Jesus to rely on.

I totally understand that. I need Jesus every hour of my day.
