How to Handle a Blister

May 6th, 2009. Filed under: Wednesday's Wonders.

This is a guest post by flybaby Nova.  It was a reply to a short bit of medical advice on the proper care of a blister.  Nova’s way sounds like more fun, especially if you’re maybe six or seven years old.

“huh
and here I thought the way to handle a blister was….

day one get blister
evening one find sharp needle or push pin and when Mom isn’t looking
pop that sucker, squeeze juice out of it.  preferably at brother.
soon as your tucked in for the night, peel the skin off the blister
middle of the night
wake mom up SOBBING loudly and tell her your (?where ever the blister is) hurts
when she asks to see it, sob LOUDER
She will have to take you down stairs
so you don’t wake the whole family up.
Continue sobbing while she gets a nice warm or cool wet washrag and wipes your
tears that continue to drip down your face
note:  don’t get caught looking in the mirror to see if tragic face looks right
at this point you should relent and show mom the popped peeled blister.

when asked how did you get that  correct answer should always be
    “don’t remember”
mom will put neosporin on blister

Make sure you ask for a different picture band aid than she has in the medicine cabinet.
sob some more when she tells you ‘this is all we have’
if your really lucky and your mom is really really tired and has to get up early
you might
be able to convince her that an ice cream would make you feel better
but don’t hold your breath.
especially if she caught you checking sad face in the mirror.”
